Before turning to harsh chemicals, start by gently rubbing stained area with an eraser. This will help remove some of the residue from the pencil, making it easier to handle with less damage to the fabric. Be sure to test the eraser on an inconspicuous area first.
Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as you can with the eraser, apply a few drops of dish soap or laundry detergent onto a clean cloth. Gently blot stained area in a circular motion and rinse with cold water. Repeat this step as needed.
To ensure that all of the soap and residue is removed, take the garment and rinse it under cold water until the suds are gone. Then, hand wash the item in a basin or sink with cold water and mild detergent. Rinse again and gently wring out excess water.
Once the item has been rinsed, lay it flat on a clean towel and roll up to absorb as much moisture as possible. Then, hang the item up to dry in a cool, shaded area away from direct sunlight.
Accidents happen, but luckily pencil stains on chiffon items can be removed with a little bit of time and effort. Follow these steps to remove the stain and keep your garment looking good as new!
