- A damp cloth
- Sudsy water (use a mild detergent or laundry soap)
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
Instructions for Removing Pencil Stains from Cashmere
- Remove any excess graphite or lead with a clean, damp cloth. If necessary, lightly scrub the stain in circles.
- Mix one teaspoon of laundry detergent or mild soap in one quart of warm water. Soak the stained fabric in the soapy water for 15 minutes.
- Wash the cashmere by hand with the soapy water. Rinse the garment with clean water.
- In a separate container, mix 1/4 cup white vinegar with 1/4 cup of cold water. Soak the stained fabric in this solution for 10 minutes.
- Blot the stain with a clean cloth. If stain persists, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1/4 cup of cold water and apply it to the stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse the area with cold water.
- Allow cashmere to air dry.
