Materials Needed

  • Soft cloth
  • Distilled water
  • Mild soap
  • Cotton swabs
  • Towel

Steps

  1. Start by gently brushing away any dried graphite with a soft cloth such as microfiber.
  2. Mix a solution of 1 teaspoon of mild soap with 1 cup of distilled water. Make sure the soap is pH neutral so it won’t discolor the thread or fabric.
  3. Soak a clean cloth in the soapy water, then wring it out slightly before wiping away the pencil stain from the lace.
  4. Once you have removed as much of the stain as possible, rinse the affected area with fresh distilled water to remove any remaining soap residue.
  5. Use a cotton swab dipped in fresh water to dab at any remaining stains. Make sure the swab is damp, not wet, to avoid saturating the fabric.
  6. Pat the area dry with a clean towel, then allow the lace to air dry completely before using again.

Tips

  • Make sure to test any solution or cleaning product on an inconspicuous area of the lace before using it on the stain.
  • Do not rub the lace too hard when cleaning to avoid damaging the thread or fabric.
  • Always air dry your lace after cleaning to avoid any damage to the delicate fabric.
