Soap and Water

One of the most effective and straightforward methods for removing pencil stains from calico is to use a bit of mild liquid dish soap and warm water. Begin by gently blotting the stain with a wet cloth. Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as possible, mix together a mild liquid dish soap and warm water in a bowl or bucket. Using a soft-bristled brush or an old toothbrush, rub the mixture into stain using circular motions. Rinse off soap and check to see if stain has been removed.

White Vinegar

White vinegar is also an excellent option for removing pencil stains from calico. Start by mixing one part white vinegar and three parts water in a bowl or bucket. Dip a clean cloth into mixture and gently apply it to the stained area. Blot the stained area until the stain has been loosened. Rinse off the vinegar and once again check to see if the stain has been removed.

Laundry Detergent

If the stains still remain after trying two methods above, you can try using some laundry detergent. Choose a laundry detergent that is designed for delicate fabrics and mix it with water according to the instructions on the bottle. Apply the mixture to stained area with an old toothbrush. Use circular motions to work the detergent into the stain. Once you notice the stain loosening, rinse off detergent and check to see if the stain has been removed.
