Remove Excess Lead
Using a straight-edge blade and a gentle hand, scrape off any excess lead from the fabric. Make sure not to press too hard against the gown or you might damage the fabric.
Apply Stain Remover
Blot the stained area with a wet cloth and a stain remover. The kind of stain remover you use will depend on the fabric, so make sure to check the care instructions for your gown first. Once you have applied the stain remover, let it sit for a few minutes.
Rinse Off the Stain Remover
After letting the stain remover soak in, rinse the area with lukewarm water. Do not rub or scrub the fabric, as this could damage the delicate material.
Air Dry
Once the area is dry, inspect to make sure the stain is gone. If stain remains, you may need to repeat the process. If the stain is gone, allow gown to air dry.
Prevention
The best way to protect your dress from pencil marks is to avoid wearing it around young children who tend to be careless with their writing utensils!
