The first step is to dampen the stained area with lukewarm water. Then, make a soapy solution by mixing mild laundry detergent with warm water. Finally, gently work the detergent into the stain using your fingers or a soft-bristled brush. Once you’ve worked the solution into fabric, rinse it with cold water.
If pencil stains won’t come out with detergent alone, try applying a dry-cleaning solvent to the stained area. Use a soft cloth to apply the solvent, then allow it to sit for 10 minutes before blotting the area with a paper towel. Once applied, rinse the area with cold water and repeat this procedure until the stain is completely gone.
White vinegar is another effective way to remove pencil stains from an A-line dress. Start by pouring undiluted white vinegar onto stain, then use a soft-bristled brush to work the vinegar into the fabric. Allow vinegar to sit for around 10 minutes before rinsing it with cold water. Repeat this process if necessary.
Before treating any stains, be sure to check the care label inside your garment for instructions on how to treat stains. Also, aim to tackle stains as soon as possible, as this will make getting rid of them much easier.
