In order to clean pencil stains from your Aeropostale item, you will need to first identify the material of the clothing. Different materials react to cleaning solutions differently, so you’ll want to take special care if your garment is made of silk or wool.
Once you know the material of garment, perform a spot test. Mix a small amount of the chosen cleaner with water, and apply it to an area of the garment that cannot be seen. Wait several minutes to ensure there is no adverse reaction to solution. If the spot test does not reveal any problems, proceed to the next step.
Mix one tablespoon of non-bleach detergent with one cup of warm water and lightly dab at the pencil stain with a clean white cloth until the stain begins to fade. Repeat this process until the stain is gone. If the stain still persists, move on to next step.
If the stain is still present, mix one tablespoon of ammonia with one cup of warm water and again lightly dab at the stain until it begins to fade. Repeat as needed. If the stain is still not completely gone, you may need to seek professional help.
Once the pencil stain has been removed, launder the item according to the fabric's care instructions. Once garment is dry, inspect it thoroughly to ensure that the pencil stain has been entirely removed.
Always remember to use caution when dealing with pencil stains. Be sure to always read the care labels of any items before attempting to clean them. Also, never pour any of the cleaning solutions directly onto the garment. Apply the solutions to a white cloth first, then dab at the stain.
