When pencil markings make their way onto an abaya, it can cause distress. Abayas are often expensive and precious garments, so taking care to remove stains can be critical. Fortunately, there are a few tips that you can use to try to remove pencil stains from your abaya.

Method 1: Soak Garment in Water

For minor stains, one of the best methods is to soak the stained area in water. Fill a bucket or basin with cold water and add a small squirt of a mild liquid detergent. Carefully submerge the stained area into the water and allow it to soak for several hours. Then, scrub the stain with a soft-bristled brush to loosen the stain before you rinse it off with cold water.

Method 2: Use Rubbing Alcohol

Another option for removing pencil stains is to use rubbing alcohol. Dip a cotton swab or rag in rubbing alcohol and then gently blot the stained area. Once the area is covered, let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing it with a soft-bristled brush. Once stain has been removed, rinse area with cold water.

Method 3: Spot Treat With Dish Soap

If the stain persists, you can spot treat the area with dish soap. Apply a few drops of dish soap to the stained area and then rub it in with a soft cloth or cotton swab. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off with cold water. This method is great for removing tougher stains, but be careful to only spot treat the area and avoid soaking the abaya in the soapy solution.

These are just three methods of removing pencil stains from an abaya. Be sure to always test any stain removal method on a hidden part of the garment before trying it on the stained area, to ensure that it does not cause any discoloration or damage to the fabric. If none of these methods works, it may be time to take abaya to a professional cleaner.
