Steps to Clean Paint Stains from Wool
- Before you start, check the care label of your wool item. It should specify if the item is safe to be hand washed. If it is, then you can begin cleaning process.
- Mix lukewarm water and a mild laundry detergent to create a soapy solution.
- Using a sponge, gently dab the soapy solution onto the area of the wool fabric that is stained with paint.
- Once you have applied the soapy solution, let it sit for a few minutes.
- Using an old toothbrush, slowly scrub the area where the paint stain is located. Doing this will help to loosen up the paint and make it easier to remove it.
- Rinse out the soapy solution from the fabric with lukewarm water.
- If the stain still remains, mix white vinegar with lukewarm water. Take a clean sponge and dab the spot with the vinegar solution. Let it sit for a few minutes.
- Once the vinegar has had a chance to work its magic, rinse the fabric with lukewarm water again.
- Allow the wool fabric to air dry completely. Do not put it in the dryer or use direct heat to dry it.
After following steps above, your wool fabric will be free of paint stains and looking like new.
