Step 1: Gather Supplies

The first step to getting paint off velvet is to gather proper supplies. You will need a bowl, a few towels, laundry detergent, soft-bristled brush, and some white vinegar.

Step 2: Mix Soap and Vinegar Solution

Once you've gathered all the necessary supplies you will begin to mix a solution that works to lift the paint from fibers of the velvet material. Start by adding one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent into the bowl. Then slowly pour in one cup of white vinegar. Stir the two ingredients together until they are completely blended.

Step 3: Use the Soap and Vinegar Solution to Remove Paint

Once the solution is ready, use the soft brush to dab it onto the stained area. Be sure to do this gently! The idea is to just moisten stain with the solution and not rub it in. Allow solution to sit for 5-10 minutes before blotting area with one of the towels. Continue repeating this process until stain is gone.
