Supplies You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Borax
  • Sponge

Cleaning the Stain

  1. Blot the stained area with a clean cloth until it’s as dry as possible.
  2. Mix equal parts white vinegar and dish soap in a bowl.
  3. Dip a sponge in the solution and dab at the stain.
  4. Rinse the area with cold water to help dilute the paint.
  5. If stains persist, mix a paste of borax and warm water, then apply to the affected area and let sit for 15 minutes.
  6. Rinse and repeat as needed.

Drying the Shirt

  • Lay t-shirt on a flat surface and allow it to air dry.
  • Alternatively, hang it on a clothes line or place it in the dryer using a low, cool setting.

Tips for Prevention

  • Always use dye-based paints and fabric markers.
  • Wear protective clothing like an apron when handling paint.
  • Wash painted items as soon as possible.
