What You'll Need

  • Sponge or cloth
  • Dish soap (preferably a mild liquid soap)
  • White Vinegar
  • Spot cleaning product (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Using a clean sponge or cloth, begin by gently blotting away excess paint from the garment. Be sure not to rub the stain, as this will only spread paint further into the fabric.

Step 2: Soak the Fabric

Fill up a bowl or sink with lukewarm water and add one tablespoon of dish soap. Place the stained garment into the soapy water and allow it to soak for at least 15 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse the Garment

Gently squeeze the fabric to release any remaining paint. Rinse the garment until all soapy residue is gone. Move garment to a clean sink or bowl filled with cold water and white vinegar (ratio of 1:2) and let it soak for an additional 15-20 minutes.

Step 4: Wash the Garment

Wash the garment in the washing machine using the delicate cycle and cold water. If stain persists, repeat steps 2-4. If the paint stain still remains, apply a spot-cleaning product to the affected area and wash again.

Step 5: Dry the Garment

Let the garment air dry or use low heat setting on the dryer. Do not place the garment in the dryer if there are any traces of the paint stain.
