Removing Water-Based Paint Stains

If you’ve got a water-based paint stain on your tights, the easiest way to remove it is to simply use a damp cloth. Start by gently blotting the paint stain with cloth to remove as much of it as possible. You may need to repeat this step multiple times until the stain is gone.

Once you’ve blotted away all you can, mix a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts water and apply it to the stain. Allow it to sit for a few minutes, then blot it away with a cloth. Finally, rinse area with warm water and let the tights dry.

Removing Oil-Based Paint Stains

Oil-based paint stains can be slightly more difficult to remove, but not impossible. Start by using a dry cloth or paper towel to blot away as much of the paint as possible. Then, apply a few drops of dishwashing soap to the stain and work it into the fabric. Rub the area with a clean cloth to dislodge any stubborn bits of paint.

Once you’ve removed as much of the paint as possible, soak the tights in a solution of hot water and laundry detergent for 20 minutes. Remove them from the water, rinse with cold water, and let them air dry.

Preventing Paint Stains

The best way to make sure your tights don’t get stained is to take preventive measures before you start painting. Wear an apron or similar protective clothing to ensure that any paint splatters won’t reach your tights. Additionally, always wash your hands with soap and water after painting to ensure that any stray paint particles are removed.
