The first step is to assess the materials of the slippers. This will determine which method you can use to clean off the paint. If the slippers are made out of synthetic leather, you should avoid using water and detergent because these can degrade the material and cause irreparable damage.
For non-synthetic materials such as canvas, you can use a mild dish soap or a detergent designed for fabric cleaning. Use a soft cloth to apply liquid onto the paint stain and rub gently until the paint comes off. Rinse area with warm water, but be careful not to let the material get too wet.
If you have suede or nubuck slippers, you should be extra cautious when cleaning off paint stains. Avoid using any water and detergents because these can ruin the material. Instead, use a rubber eraser to gently rub off the paint. Brush off any remaining residue with a suede brush.
You can also use a commercial product designed specifically for removing paint stains on textiles. Make sure to read the instructions carefully and test in an inconspicuous area to make sure it won’t damage the material. Once the paint has been removed, rinse the area with cool water and dry with a towel.
If the paint stains still haven’t come off, you can try applying rubbing alcohol to area. Again, be sure to test in a small area first to avoid damaging the material. Be sure to fill a container with cold water and submerge the slippers in container for 10 minutes. After this, rinse off the area with cold water and allow slippers to air dry.
Cleaning paint stains off of slippers can be a tricky endeavour. However, by following these tips, you can restore your slippers to their former glory in no time!
