Supplies You Will Need
- Clean cloths
- Laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Toothbrush
Steps to Get Rid of Paint Stains
- Before attempting to remove the paint stain, make sure the skirt is color-fast. Rub a small area with a clean cloth and laundry detergent. If the color doesn't run, it is safe to try washing it.
- Create a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and dab at the stain, making sure not to rub it, as this could make the stain spread. Continue until the stain starts lifting.
- Once the stain has been dampened, use the toothbrush to lightly scrub the area. This will help break up the remaining stain particles.
- Rinse the fabric with cool water to remove any remaining solution and paint stains. Launder as usual.
Additional Tips
- For this method to work, it must be done immediately after the paint has been spilled. The longer it sits, the more likely it is to set in.
- Do not use hot water when rinsing out fabric. Hot water may cause paint stain to set permanently.
- Never put a stained skirt in the dryer. The heat can cause paint stain to set and become irreparable.
