Rinse the freshly stained skirt under cold running water. Be sure to rinse gently—you don’t want to spread stain further! You’ll also want to avoid using too much pressure as it may cause the fabric to bleed.
Fill a sink or tub with warm water and add a mild detergent. Submerge the skirt in soapy water and let it soak for up to 30 minutes. Then, rinse the skirt thoroughly with cold water.
If stain is still present after soaking, try scrubbing it with a toothbrush, nail brush, jean brush, or other bristled cleaner. Start from the outside of the stain and work your way inwards. Use a small amount of detergent while scrubbing and stop if the fabric starts to fray.
If stain is still visible after scrubbing, try treating it with a stain remover. Choose a product that’s designed for color fabrics. Follow the instructions on the package to apply the solution to the stained area.
Once stain has been treated, launder skirt as usual in cold water. Be sure to check the skirt before drying in order to make sure the stain is gone. If stain is still visible, repeat steps two through five.
With these easy steps, you’ll be able to get paint stains out of skirts quickly and efficiently. Remember to only use mild detergents and stain removers specifically designed for colored fabrics!
