How to Clean Paint Stains From Silk Satin—the Easiest Way Possible!

What You’ll Need

• Isopropyl alcohol
• Cotton balls, swabs, or fabric scraps
• Dishwashing detergent
• White vinegar
• A clean cloth
• Salt (optional)

Removing Paint Stains from Silk Satin

1. Using a cotton swab or fabric scrap, dab the stained area with isopropyl alcohol. Be careful not to rub the fabric as this may cause damage.
2. Once the paint has been softened, create a soapy solution consisting of one teaspoon of dish soap and a cup of warm water. Swirl the mix together to create suds, before gently dabbing the stained area with the solution.
3. Rinse the area with a cup of water and then blot it dry with a clean cloth.
4. If the paint stain persists, repeat the process. If it still won’t budge, add a quarter cup of white vinegar to soapy mix, before dabbing area again. The vinegar should help to break down the paint and lift the stain.
5. If the stain is still present, cover area with table salt, then rinse with a cup of warm water. This should help to absorb the last of the paint before it dried.
6. Finally, hang the fabric up to air dry.

If the stain is still visible, do not attempt to use more harsh cleaning products such as bleach, as these could cause further damage to the fabric. It is always best to seek professional advice when dealing with sensitive fabrics such as silk satin.
