Removing Wet Paint Stains

  • Grab a damp cloth and dab the dampened spot to remove any excess wet paint.
  • After this, apply rubbing alcohol or a diluted solution of detergent and water to the stained area of the scarf.
  • Gently press the damp cloth into the solution, and use circular movements to loosen the paint.
  • If you’re dealing with a large paint stain, you might need to use a pair of tweezers or needle-nose pliers to help scrape it gently off the cloth.
  • Run the stained area of the scarf under cold water and use a mild soap to lather the area.
  • Soak scarf in lukewarm water for 20 minutes. Then, rinse it out thoroughly.
  • Repeat the process until the paint stain is removed completely.
  • Hang the scarf outdoors or in the sun to dry.

Removing Dry Paint Stains

  • Take a piece of fine-grit sandpaper and rub it over the dry paint stain.
  • Once the paint begins to flake off, use a soft brush to scrub away the remaining residue.
  • If there’s still some residual paint left on the scarf, mix equal parts of white vinegar and alcohol in a bowl and use a cotton swab to apply solution to affected area.
  • Rinse off mixture with cool water and allow the scarf to air dry.
  • Once the paint has been completely removed, add a small amount of mild detergent to the stained area and use a damp cloth to blot the area until the detergent has been fully absorbed.
  • Allow the scarf to air-dry again before storing it away.
