Materials Needed

  • Clean cloths or paper towels
  • White vinegar
  • Olive oil
  • Laundry detergent

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Using a clean cloth or paper towel, scrape up any excess paint. Do not rub as this will push the paint into the fabric.
  2. Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a bowl.
  3. Soak a clean cloth or paper towel in the mixture and dab gently over the paint stain.
  4. Once the stain has lightened, blot the area with a dry cloth.
  5. If the stain persists, try dabbing a small amount of olive oil onto the paint stain.
  6. Allow the olive oil to sit for a few minutes before blotting it away with a clean, dry cloth.
  7. Finally, use a laundry detergent specifically formulated for delicates to further remove any remaining paint stains. Follow the directions on bottle.

Tips for Avoiding Paint Stains on Your Pumps

  • Always wear gloves when using paint.
  • Wear protective clothing, like an apron, to cover exposed skin.
  • If possible, work in an area with only tile or wood surfaces that can be easily mopped up if paint gets spilled.
  • Keep a rag handy to wipe up paint spills quickly.
