The first step is to determine the type of paint that got onto your pans. Different paints require different cleaning methods. Acrylic paint is water-based and therefore easier to clean. Latex paint is oil-based and slightly more difficult to remove.

If the paint on your pan is still wet, the best course of action is to use a butter knife or putty knife to scrape away as much of the paint as possible. If paint is dry, try using rubbing alcohol or vinegar with a scrub brush.

Once you have scraped away as much of the paint as you can, fill the pot or pan with water and add a liquid detergent. Let it soak for about 20 minutes. This should help dissolve and loosen any paint residue from the surface of the pan.

From here, simply wash the pot or pan as normal, using a sponge or cloth. Be sure to rinse the surface thoroughly to get rid of any residual soap and paint.

If the stubborn paint spots still won't come off, try using an abrasive cleaner such as steel wool. Be careful not to damage the pan's surface in the process. When you're done, rinse the pan well and dry with a clean cloth.

With these simple steps, you can successfully remove paint stains from pots and pans without needing to buy a new set!
