The first step is to identify the fabric of your pants. Different fabrics require different cleaning techniques. If you aren’t sure what the fabric of your pants is, look at tag. Generally speaking, most pants are made out of one of these fabrics:
Once you know the fabric of your pants, you can choose the appropriate cleaning product. For oil-based paint, use an oil-based cleaner such as mineral spirits. For water-based paint, use a water-based cleaner such as rubbing alcohol or white vinegar. Make sure you use a non-abrasive cloth when applying the cleaner.
Apply a few drops of the cleaner directly to stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, dab the area with a clean cloth to remove the paint. You may need to repeat this process several times before paint is completely removed.
After the paint is gone, you’ll need to rinse away the cleaning solution. Use a wet cloth and cold water, and be sure to blot area rather than rub it.
Finally, hang the pants to air dry. Avoid using a machine dryer, as high temperatures can set stain. Once the pants are dry, they should be good as new!
