Oxford shoes are a wardrobe staple for the modern man, so it's unfortunate when they become stained with messy paint. But don't worry, you can get them looking as good as new with the right cleaning supplies and a few simple steps. Here's what you need to know about cleaning paint out of your oxfords.

Gather Supplies

Before you begin, make sure you have all of the necessary cleaning supplies. You'll need a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent. If the paint stains are particularly stubborn, then you may also want to use a specialized cleaner designed to remove paint stains from fabric.

Test Beforehand

To be safe, test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the shoe before using it on the stained area. This ensures that the cleaner won't damage the material or discolor the shoe in any way.

Apply Cleaner to Stain

Once you've chosen the right cleaner for your shoes, apply it directly to the paint stain and allow it to sit for several minutes. This will give the cleaner time to soften and break up the stain, making it easier to remove during next step.

Wipe Away Stains

Using a damp cloth, gently wipe away the paint stain in a circular motion. Keep in mind that the cleaner may have left behind a residue, so make sure to rinse the cloth frequently throughout the cleaning process.

Let Shoes Dry

Once all of the paint has been removed, leave the shoes to dry completely before attempting to wear them again. If the paint stains had already dried onto the shoe, then you may need to use a blow-dryer or a fan to speed up the drying process.
