Paint spills can be a major bummer for your favorite one-piece swimsuits. Whether you just came home from a trip to the beach, or you recently decided to get creative with your wardrobe, it can seem overwhelming to tackle the problem. But never fear! With some household items and a bit of elbow grease, you'll soon have your suit looking fabulous once again.
Before you do anything else, take a minute to identify the type of paint that has spilled on your swimsuit. Different paints require different methods of removal. For example, water-based paint will be much easier to get out than oil-based paint.
The next step is to pre-treat the stain. To do this, take a cloth and dampen it with warm water. Gently dab the cloth over the stained area (avoid scrubbing!) and let the water sit for a few minutes. This will help to loosen up and remove some of the paint.
For the next step, you'll need to mix together a few common household items. Start by mixing together equal parts of dish soap and white vinegar in a bowl. Once they are mixed together, use a clean cloth to apply it to stain. Let the solution sit for a few minutes before continuing.
Now that the stain has been pre-treated and the cleaning solution has been applied, it's time to rinse and wash the swimsuit. Fill a sink or bucket with lukewarm water and slowly submerge the swimsuit. Let the suit soak in the water for about 15 minutes before rinsing. Then, use a mild detergent to wash the suit and rinse away any remaining soap or vinegar. Hang the wet suit to dry and you're all done!
