Whether you’ve got a pesky paint stain on a Michael Kors purse or wallet, there are a few steps you can take to remove it quickly and safely.

Step 1. Identify the Type of Leather

Leather comes in many different varieties and each type requires different cleaning techniques. It’s best to identify the type before beginning, since some products may not work on certain kinds. Find out whether your item is made of calfskin, nappa, exotics, or bridal leather. This information can usually be found on the care label.

Step 2. Choose an Appropriate Cleaning Product

Once you’ve figured out which type of leather you’re dealing with, you’ll need to choose a suitable cleaning product. For nappa and calfskin leather, a mild detergent or saddle soap can do the trick. If your Michael Kors item is made of exotics or bridal leather, try using vegetable oil, a natural cleaner, or a non-wax leather conditioner.

Step 3. Apply the Cleaning Product

Now that you’ve selected appropriate cleaning product, apply it to the affected area. Make sure to use only a small amount and to test it in an inconspicuous spot first. After applying the product, gently massage it into the leather with a soft cloth and let it sit for a few minutes. Finally, rinse the area with a damp cloth and dry it off.

You should now be able to see a significant improvement in the appearance of your Michael Kors item. If the stain is still visible, repeat the process as needed. Remember, always test any product you’re using on an inconspicuous spot first to ensure it won’t damage the leather.
