As any Marcella aficionado knows, they can make wonderful garments and furnishings. But it’s no secret that accidentally spilling paint on your beloved Marcella can be devastating. Not to worry though, because there are easy and effective ways to take care of paint stains without having to resort to drastic measures.
The most important part of paint stain removal is to get rid of as much paint as possible. Don’t scrub, but gently remove excess with a spoon. This will help to keep the area from becoming over saturated with paint. Be sure not to press too hard or you could risk damaging fabric.
Create a mixture of cold water and mild detergent and soak the stained area in solution. Let it sit for up to 15 minutes, then rinse out the mixture. You can also add a teaspoon of ammonia to the mix if stain is particularly bad.
Grab some liquid laundry detergent and apply it directly onto the stain. Make sure to work it into the fabric as much as possible. Let the pre-treatment sit for about 30 minutes before washing it off.
Read the manufacturer instructions to make sure you don't inadvertently shrink or damage fabric. Once you have determined the appropriate temperature, wash the fabric as usual. Be sure to use an enzyme-based detergent and proceed with caution. When it's done, check to see if stain is entirely gone and repeat the process if necessary.
Once you've finished the washing and rinsing, hang the fabric up to dry on an indoor clothing line. Don't try to dry it with an electric dryer or any other type of heat source, as this could set the stain. Simply allow it to air-dry and your Marcella fabric should be good as new!
