If you find yourself with unwanted paint spots on your macramé, all you need is a household item you likely already have: rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol can work wonders on removing paint stains from macramé, and it's incredibly easy to use. Simply soak a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and carefully dab the affected areas. Make sure to dab gently, rather than scrub, as vigorous scrubbing could cause damage to the fragile macramé knots.
In addition to rubbing alcohol, salt can also help get rid of paint stains. Pour a few tablespoons of salt over paint spots, then add enough water to cover the stained areas. Leave for a couple of hours, then rinse the saltwater off and dab the area with a cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol.
To protect your macramé creations from paint stains in the first place, you may want to consider using a sealant. Applying a coat of sealant will protect your macramé from paint splatters and other stains so that cleaning will not be necessary. A sealant will also help preserve the vibrant colors of your macramé designs over time.
