What You’ll Need

  • A soft brush (toothbrush or nail brush works great)
  • Mild liquid laundry detergent
  • Towel
  • Stain remover (like Shout) (optional)

Step 1: Test the stain remover

If you choose to use a stain remover, make sure you test it on an inconspicuous spot, such as the inside seam or back pocket of your jeans, first. If you see any discoloration while testing, do not proceed with the cleaning process.

Step 2: Remove excess paint

Using a soft brush, work to gently remove any excess paint from fabric. Do not scrub aggressively; you want to avoid damaging the material.

Step 3: Pre-treat the stain

Create a mixture of equal parts mild detergent and warm water and apply it directly onto the stained area. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes before proceeding.

Step 4: Rinse the area

Using a damp cloth, rinse off the detergent mixture from the affected area. Once finished, pat the area dry with a towel.

Step 5: Apply Stain Remover (optional)

If needed, apply a generous amount of stain remover onto the area and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Once finished, rinse off the stain remover and pat dry with a towel.

Step 6: Wash the jeans

Once the paint has been removed, place your jeans into the washing machine with the rest of your laundry and wash as usual. After washing, you should be left with your Levi’s looking as good as new!
