What You'll Need

  • Stain remover or rubbing alcohol
  • A soft cloth or Q-tip
  • Foam cleanser

Step 1: Pre-Treat with Stain Remover or Rubbing Alcohol

Begin by pre-treating the stain with a spray or aerosol stain remover, such as OxiClean, or use rubbing alcohol for more stubborn stains. Apply a small amount of either to the stained area and gently rub with a soft cloth or Q-tip. Be sure to be gentle as you don’t want to damage delicate lace or fabric.

Step 2: Wash by Hand or in Washing Machine

Once the stain is pre-treated, it's time to wash lace garment or fabric. You can either do this by hand or place the item in the washing machine. It's best to use a gentle detergent and warm water, but you can also use cold water if the item is very delicate. It's important to avoid using hot water, as this can cause the stain to set into the fabric.

Step 3: Rinse and Dry

Once the item is washed, rinse it thoroughly and do not squeeze or wring it out. Gently press the excess water from the fabric. Then, hang the item to dry naturally. Do not put it in the dryer as this may set the stain.

Step 4: Spot Clean With Foam Cleanser

If the stain still remains after washing, spot clean it with a gentle foam cleanser, such as a dish soap. Be sure to use a soft cloth or Q-tip and apply the foam in a circular motion. Rinse and dry the item as before, and the stain should be removed.
