Before tackling the paint stain head-on, try pre-treating it with an effective detergent, such as dishwashing liquid or a laundry pre-treatment. Using a soft-bristled brush, gently work the detergent into stain, moving in a circular motion. Finally, rinse with cold water.
Mix a solution of one part white vinegar to two parts warm water. Dip a clean rag into the solution and dab at stained area until paint is gone. Rinse the dress with cool water and repeat if necessary.
If the stain still persists, you may want to try using a laundry stain remover. Follow the instructions on the bottle and apply the stain remover to the soiled area. Once again, use a soft-bristled brush to rub the stain remover into the fabric in a circular motion. Rinse with cold water and repeat, if needed.
Hairspray and rubbing alcohol have long been used to remove paint stains from clothing. Simply spray the stained area with hairspray, wait a few minutes, and then rinse with cool water. If this doesn’t do trick, try using some rubbing alcohol instead.
Once you've successfully removed the paint stain, finish up by washing your J Crew item in hot water with soap. This will help to remove any remaining traces of paint, as well as any residue from the stain remover. Allow the item to air dry and enjoy your newly refreshed J Crew look!
