The first step when it comes to cleaning paint from any type of handbag is to identify the material. This will determine what materials to use and which cleaning methods will work best. Common materials include leather, canvas, synthetic fabrics, and suede. Check the care instructions on the label for further guidance.
Use a dull knife or spoon to gently scrape off any excess paint before stain sets in. Make sure to take care not to rub the paint into the fabric or leather.
Mix one part white vinegar with three parts cold water in a bowl and stir together. You can also add a few drops of liquid dish soap or laundry detergent to the solution to create a more powerful cleaner.
Soak a clean cloth in the vinegar solution. Place cloth directly over the stained area and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. This will help loosen the paint and make it easier to remove.
Using the soaked cloth, gently rub the stained area to lift the paint away from surface. Don't rub too hard or you may damage the material. It's best to start with small circular motions and use a light hand.
Once you've successfully removed the paint stain, use a damp cloth to wipe away any remaining residue. Allow area to dry completely before using or storing your handbag or purse.
