Things You Will Need

  • Soybean oil or petroleum jelly
  • White vinegar
  • Soft cloths
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. As soon as you notice the paint stain, use a spoon to scrape away as much of the paint as possible. Be sure not to rub or smudge the paint, as this will cause the stain to spread further.
  2. Apply some soybean oil or petroleum jelly to the stained area. Allow the oil or jelly to sit for a few minutes. This will help break down paint, making it easier to remove.
  3. Using a soft cloth, gently rub the stain in circular motions to remove as much paint as possible.
  4. If the stain persists, try using a mixture of white vinegar and water. Soak a cloth in mixture and blot the stained area until paint has been removed.
  5. Rinse the area with cold water and then allow it to air dry.

Additional Tips and Advice

  • Be sure to only use a mild detergent when washing the garment. Harsh chemicals can damage the delicate silk fibers.
  • Always test a small hidden area of the fabric before applying any cleaning method. This will ensure you don't cause any additional damage.
  • If stain is particularly stubborn, it's best to take the garment to a professional cleaner to avoid any further damage.
