Steps to Follow
- Act fast! Start cleaning process as soon as possible; dried paint is far harder to remove.
- Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl.
- Dip something like a sponge or cloth into the mixture and dab the stained area of the garment.
- Rinse the area with cold water.
- Check that stain is gone. If not, you may want to apply a pre-wash treatment, repeat above steps, then put the garment in the washing machine.
Additional Tips
- Do not try to rub off paint stains with a brush or cloth scrubbing.
- While white vinegar and water are effective in many situations, for stubborn paints a specialized cleaning product may be necessary.
- If possible, test the cleaning method on a small, hidden part of the garment before attempting it on the visible area.
Safety Precautions
- Be sure the garment is washed separately from other clothing.
- Read the directions on any specialized cleaner you use.
- When in doubt, take the garment to a dry cleaner, especially if dealing with an expensive, delicate garment like gazar.
