Before attempting to clean the stain, it’s important to gather supplies that will be needed. This includes a few drops of dish soap, a soft-bristle brush, a sponge, cold water, and a cloth or paper towel. All of these items should be non-abrasive and free of any chemicals.
First, dilute the stain by blotting it with a damp cloth. This helps to reduce the strength of the paint by breaking it down and making it easier to remove. At this time, you can also apply a few drops of dish soap directly to the stained area. Gently rub the spot with a soft-bristle brush in a circular motion for about 15 minutes or until the stain begins to lighten.
Once stain has been broken down, rinse the spot with cold water. Repeat the process of blotting, applying soap, and brushing until stain is completely gone. After the stain is removed, allow garter to air dry before wearing.
In some instances, professional cleaning may be necessary to remove stubborn paint stains from garter fabrics. A professional cleaner will be able to recommend the best products and techniques for removing stain without damaging the fabric.
