First, use a spoon or butter knife and gently scrape off any excess paint that’s still wet. Be sure to do this carefully to avoid damaging the material.
Next, take a clean cloth and dampen it with cool water. Gently dab stained area with the cloth until the paint starts to come up. Do not scrub or rub too hard. This could cause further damage to fabric.
If the paint is still not coming off, try applying a mild solvent like acetone. Put a bit of the solvent onto a clean cloth and gently dab the stain until it begins to come loose. Remember to do this very carefully and only use a small amount of solvent at a time.
Once you’ve finished dabbing with the solvent, rinse the area with cool water. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until all traces of the paint have disappeared.
Finally, hang your evening gown up in a well-ventilated area and let it Dry. Avoid using a hairdryer or heat to dry dress as this could cause further damage to the fabric.
