When it comes to getting rid of paint stains on earplugs, a little bit of knowledge and careful technique go a long way. To begin with, make sure to always protect your hands with gloves and use a soft bristled brush to avoid scraping the surface of the earplug.
The first step is to remove any excess paint by gently and carefully scraping it off the surface of the plug. Use a soft cloth or a cotton swab to make sure you do not scratch or damage the material. Any small particles left behind should come off with ease.
Once you’ve scraped off as much paint as you can from plug’s surface, rinse it with warm water. This helps to loosen and remove any remaining particles. Use a small amount of dish soap if necessary to create suds that will help to separate the paint from the surface.
Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a bowl and dip a toothbrush into the solution. Gently scrub all of the affected areas of the plug with the toothbrush and then rinse it off with warm water.
Use a clean cloth to carefully pat dry plug after washing. Make sure to get rid of all excess moisture and, if possible, set the cleaned plug out in the sun to dry faster.
If there are still signs of paint stains left on your plugs, repeat the above steps until stains are gone. If you find that the paint isn’t coming off no matter how much you try, then it’s time to replace the plugs.
