Step One: Pre-Treat the Stain

If the paint stain is still wet, gently dab it with a cloth to absorb as much of the paint as possible. Do not rub or scrub, as this can cause the paint to spread further. Once the paint is dry, use a pre-treatment liquid like Woolite to saturate the stained area and loosen the paint. Leave the pre-treatment to sit on the fabric for about 15 minutes before proceeding to the next step.

Step Two: Soak the Garment

Fill a large bowl or sink with lukewarm water and add a few drops of detergent. Gently submerge the dashiki in the water and let it soak for roughly one hour. The paint should start to come loose from the fibers during this process.

Step Three: Rinse and Dry

Remove the garment from the water, being careful not to agitate it too much. Rinse it with cold water until all of the soap has been removed. Lay the dashiki flat to air-dry or use a delicate cycle in the washing machine. It’s best to hang the garment up to finish drying.
