Cargo pants are a great fashion statement and they keep you feeling comfortable. But over time, you may notice that they can start to look dirty as paint splashes, food stains, and general wear-and-tear take their toll. To restore your cargo pants back to their former glory, you’ll need to remove paint stains first.

Things You'll Need

  • Sponge
  • Detergent
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • White cloth
  • Stain remover

Steps to Follow

  1. Begin by dampening a soft-bristled brush in water. Gently scrub area of the stain until it starts to lift off. Don’t push down too hard and be sure not to spread the stain.
  2. Apply a small amount of detergent to a damp sponge and use it to lather the area around the stain. Gently rub at the stain to break it up.
  3. Rinse the area with cold water to ensure that all of detergent has been removed.
  4. If the stain is still visible, use a white cloth dipped in warm water to blot the area. Do not scrub the fabric as this may further damage the material.
  5. Pat area dry with a clean towel before repeating the process if necessary.
  6. To remove tough stains, apply a specialty paint stain remover and use as directed.

Tips

  • Test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous area before use.
  • Always read the garment care label for fabric type and cleaning instructions before attempting to remove a paint stain.
  • If you do not have a specialist paint stain remover, use rubbing alcohol or acetone, but do not use them on colored fibers.
