When it comes to getting rid of paint stains, timing is everything. As soon as you notice the spill, start cleaning the spot. If the paint has had time to dry, you'll need to moisten the area. Take a damp rag or sponge and gently dab the stain to rehydrate it.
This step is key for loosening up tough paint stains. Take a dab of dish soap and lather it on the area, then let it sit for 10-15 minutes. This will help breakdown the layers of paint so it's easier to remove.
Mix together baking soda and cold water until you have a thick paste. Apply mixture directly onto the paint stain and rub it in (using an old toothbrush can help with this). Then rinse the area off with cool water. Repeat until the stain is gone.
Mix a solution of vinegar and cold water and apply it to the paint stain. This helps neutralize the alkaline pH from the baking soda paste. Rinse the area off with cool water again.
The last step is to put your shirt in the wash with laundry detergent. Run cycle on cold setting and you're all set! Your shirt should come out looking good as new.
