Step 1: Clean with Soap and Water

The first step is to use a mild soap and warm water to clean appliance surface where the paint spilled or was applied. If the paint has had time to dry, using a soft bristled brush to gently loosen and remove stuck-on paint may be necessary. Then, use a damp cloth to wipe away the paint and soap residue.

Step 2: Use Acetone as a Solvent

If the soap and water method didn't quite do the trick, acetone can be used to dissolve the paint. Acetone is available in paint supply stores or at most hardware stores. Be sure to also have rubber gloves and a face mask handy when working with acetone. To apply acetone, dip a soft cloth into it and use the cloth to rub paint stain on the appliance. Wear gloves to protect your skin from possible irritation, and do not allow the acetone to remain on the appliance for more than one minute. After the acetone is applied, rinse area with a cloth dipped in warm, soapy water to remove chemicals.

Step 3: Use a Commercial Paint Remover

If the previous methods fail, there is always the option of using a commercial paint remover. Be sure to exercise caution when using this product. Make sure to read all instructions on the container before applying, including wearing gloves and protective gear. To apply the paint remover, dip a soft cloth into it and gently rub stained area. Depending on the manufacturer's instructions, you may need to cover area with plastic wrap and leave it for a few minutes to allow the remover to work its magic. After that, wipe the paint away with a damp cloth.

Bonus Tip: Hire a Professional

No matter what type of paint stain you have, hiring a professional to remove it is always the best solution. Painting contractors have the tools and experience necessary to remove paint stains safely and quickly. Best of all, you don't have to worry about causing any damage to your appliance in the process.
