Step 1: Remove Dried Paint with a Putty Knife

If the paint has dried and hardened onto the surface of the acrylic, use a putty knife to scrape off as much of the paint as possible. Use short, light strokes with the blade of the knife, and be careful not to gouge or scratch the acrylic surface beneath.

Step 2: Soak with Mineral Spirits

Next, soak paint-stained area in mineral spirits for 30 minutes to an hour. Make sure to follow safety instructions on the mineral spirits packaging. After soaking, rub at the paint stain with a rag to remove residue. The stain should come off with minimal effort.

Step 3: Rinse with Water and Dry

Rinse off the area with cold water and then use a dry rag or towel to pat it dry. Afterwards, the paint stain will be gone and your acrylic surface will look good as new!
