Materials Needed
- Dishwashing liquid
- Clean cloth or sponge
- White vinegar
- Olive or vegetable oil
Step by Step Instructions
- Use a clean cloth or sponge and a bit of dishwashing liquid to remove as much of oil pastel as possible. Be gentle on the fabric, to prevent any damage.
- Dampen a cloth or sponge with cold water and blot gently at remaining stain.
- Rub a small amount of white vinegar onto the stain and then rinse it with cold water.
- If stain remains, put a drop of olive or vegetable oil onto a cloth and dab gently at the stain. Continue dabbing and adding more oil until stain is no longer visible.
Additional Tips
- It is important to work quickly when removing oil pastel stains, as they can set into the fabric if left for too long.
- For particularly stubborn stains, you may need to repeat Steps 3 and 4 a few times before the stain is lifted.
