When you notice an oil pastel stain on your clothing, your first step is to scrape off any excess wax right away. Gently use a butter knife or a spoon to remove as much wax as possible and discard it in the trash.
The next step is to pre-treat stain before washing. First, moisten a paper towel with rubbing alcohol and dab it onto the stain. This will help to loosen the wax and make it easier to remove in the next step.
Once the wax has been loosened by the rubbing alcohol, it’s time to launder clothing. Before you do, check the care instructions for the fabric and make sure to use the appropriate water temperature and laundry detergent. Then, place the clothing in washer and select the appropriate cycle for your type of fabric.
Once the wash cycle is complete, you may still have some remaining oil pastel residue. To remove it, take some rubbing alcohol and dab it onto remaining stain. Repeat this process until the stain is completely gone, then toss the clothing in the dryer and enjoy your freshly cleaned clothing item!
Getting oil pastel stains out of your clothing doesn’t have to be a difficult task. With just a few simple steps, you can easily tackle the stain and restore your clothing back to its former glory!
