If you've ever used oil pastels for your art projects, then you know that they're incredibly vibrant and easy to use. However, they can also leave behind some very stubborn stains! Fortunately, with a few simple steps, you can easily remove oil pastel stains from twill.
Before you start, you must make sure that area is free from dirt, dust, and oils. Start off by vacuuming the stained area to get rid of any loose particles or debris. You can also use a damp cloth to wipe away any remaining dirt or oils on the surface.
Once the area is clean and prepped, you can start treating oil pastel stain. To pre-treat the stain, make a mixture of mild detergent and lukewarm water. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently rub it over stained area. Make sure not to scrub too hard, as this could damage the fabric. Let the pre-treatment sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it away with cold water.
If the pre-treatment does not completely remove the stain, you may need to use a specialist stain remover. There are many stain removers available in stores and online that are specifically designed to tackle stubborn oil pastel stains. Be sure to carefully follow manufacturer's directions when using the product.
After you have treated the stain, it is important to wash fabric. Place the item of clothing in washing machine and use cold water. Choose a gentle cycle and add a small amount of detergent. Don't forget to check the care label before starting the wash cycle, as some twill fabrics may require special care.
After washing, it's time to dry the item of clothing. It's best to hang the garment up to air dry, as this will help keep the shape and avoid shrinkage. Do not put item in the dryer as this may cause additional damage to the fabric.
Oil pastels can create stunning pieces of artwork – but their vivid colours come with the risk of leaving behind a nasty stain. With these simple steps, you can easily remove oil pastel stains from twill and restore your favourite garments back to their original condition.
