If you have oil pastel stains on clothing, you should start by rubbing some water onto the stain. This helps to loosen up stain before tackling it any further. After this, use a cloth or an old toothbrush to rub some detergent into the stain. You can then leave it to soak in hot water for around 15 minutes before rinsing the garment. Another option is to use a stain remover, such as vanish powder or spray. Simply follow the instructions and apply directly to stain before washing as normal.
Leather is a more delicate material to work with, so you should take extra care when attempting to clean oil pastel stains from leather items. Begin by wiping the stain with a damp cloth to help break it down. Aim to use a soft cloth and gentle pressure, so as not to damage the leather. After this, apply a small amount of mild detergent onto the stain and use a circular motion to work the product into the material. When the stain is looking lighter, you can use a damp cloth to wipe away any traces of detergent. Then, dry gently with a dry cloth until the leather is dry.
