Step 1: Blot the Stained Area

Begin by blotting the stained area with a paper towel or clean cloth to remove as much of the oil pastel as possible. Do not rub the stain, as this will spread the pigment.

Step 2: Dab the Stained Area With Vinegar

Once you have removed as much of the oil pastel as possible using the paper towel or cloth, dip a cotton ball or swab into white vinegar. Gently dab the stained area with the vinegar solution. The vinegar will act as a solvent to help lift oil pastel pigment.

Step 3: Scrub the Stain With Soap and Water

Once the vinegar has been applied, wet a washcloth with warm water and a dab of laundry soap. Gently scrub the stained area with the soapy water. Rinse the cloth as needed. After scrubbing for several minutes, the oil pastel stain should begin to fade.

Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 as Needed

If the stain does not seem to be coming out, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the oil pastel has been removed. You may need to apply additional vinegar and scrub a bit harder to get the stain out.

Step 5: Launder the Fabric as Usual

Once stain has faded, launder the fabric as you would normally. Make sure to check the fabric for any remaining stains before drying.
