What You Will Need
- Liquid laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Cloth or sponge
- Toothbrush
- Paper towels
Instructions
- Soak clothing in cold water for as long as possible. This helps to loosen up pigment, making it easier to remove.
- Create a cleaning solution by adding 1 tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent and 1/4 cup white vinegar to 1 quart of warm water.
- Using a cloth or sponge, scrub the affected area with solution. For more stubborn stains, use a toothbrush to agitate fabric.
- Rinse the garment with cold water and check the stain. If the stain is still visible, repeat this process.
- Once the stain is gone, blot the area with paper towels to absorb any remaining moisture.
- Allow the garment to air dry before wearing or laundering.
Tips
- Do not put swimwear in the dryer unless the stain has been completely removed. The heat will cause stain to set, making it much more difficult to get out.
- If the stain is too stubborn to remove, try treating it with a commercial stain remover.
