Easy Ways to Clean Oil Pastel Stains from Swim Trunks

Oil pastel stains can be a tricky challenge. But if you act quickly and use the right materials, you can remove them from your swim trunks without damaging the fabric.

What You’ll Need

  • Mild detergent
  • A soft brush
  • Vinegar or lemon juice
  • A clean cloth

Directions

  1. Gently brush away any excess oil pastel residue with a soft brush.
  2. Mix together 1/4 cup of mild detergent and 1/2 cup of vinegar or lemon juice.
  3. Using a clean cloth, apply pressure and dab affected area with the solution.
  4. Continue dabbing for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Rinse the garment in cool water.
  6. Dry with a clean towel.

Tips & Warnings

  • Test the solution on a hidden area of the fabric first to make sure it won’t cause any discoloration.
  • Be sure to use a gentle detergent and avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Do not machine wash the garment after you’ve finished treating the stain.
  • Do not place the garment in the dryer.
