Step 1: Blot Stain Immediately

Once you notice the stain, take a clean cloth and blot it gently to absorb as much of oil as possible. Blotting will also help prevent the stain from spreading.

Step 2: Treat the Stain with Soap and Water

Start by making a solution of warm water and dish or laundry soap. Then gently rub the area with the soapy solution using a soft-bristled brush. Focus on the stained area and gently scrub back and forth.

Step 3: Rinse the Area with Clean Water

Once you’ve finished scrubbing, rinse the fabric with clean water to remove any soapy residue and continue blotting the area with a cloth.

Step 4: Apply a Spot Treatment Product

If the stain still remains, use a commercial spot treatment product specifically designed for removing oil stains. Follow the instructions on the product and allow treatment to remain on the fabric for recommended amount of time before rinsing with water.

Step 5: Wash with Detergent

For extra protection, launder your garment in washing machine according to the care instructions on the tag. Use a detergent designed for tough stains and make sure to check fabric before you put it in the dryer.
