This will help you determine how much of the stain must be removed. You can start cleaning up stained area by blotting it carefully with a damp cloth. Blotting helps to absorb oil and prevents the stain from spreading.

Once you have removed as much oil as possible, apply a stain remover to the stained area. A gentle laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid will usually do the job, but if the stain is very stubborn, a specialised oil pastel stain remover might be needed. Apply the solution to the stain and use a soft brush to lightly scrub the area until the stain is gone. Rinse the area with cold water and leave it to dry completely.
