Things You'll Need
- Baby shampoo or gentle detergent
- Absorbent cloth or sponge
- Towel
Steps to Clean the Stain
- Prepare a solution with baby shampoo or gentle detergent. Dip the absorbent cloth or sponge in the solution.
- Gently dab the stained area with the cloth or sponge, until all of oil pastel has been absorbed.
- Rinse the affected area with cold water. Make sure to rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of soap.
- Once area is rinsed, lay a small towel over it and press gently. Do not rub to avoid further damage.
- Dab towel with cool or lukewarm water to remove any remainder of oil.
- Once the area is completely dry, you can iron it on the reverse side using a low heat setting, if necessary.
Additional Tips
- Never attempt to wash silk charmeuse in hot or warm water, as this could lead to irreversible damage.
- If the stain is stubborn, it's best to bring the item to a professional dry cleaner, who will know just how to treat it.
- Ensure item is completely dry before you store it, so no mould or mildew develops.
